homewhat we do.

Beginning nearly a century ago, Benham designed many of the highways and rural roadway systems that have been the regional cornerstones of the nation’s transportation infrastructure. Today, we continue to provide the same “best value” to our highway clients through planning and design of urban streets, interstate highway systems, county and state roads, multi-level interchanges, city intersections, historic streetscapes, bridges and roundabouts.

As travel patterns have changed and traffic congestion has grown over the years, Benham has developed safer and more efficient solutions for evolving, integrated transportation problems. For example, Benham has been an innovator in adapting traffic-calming roundabouts that reduce accidents to nearly zero. In fact, the education arm of the FHWA is using our designs to teach practicing engineers.

We have reconstructed, re-aligned and widened major highways. We have designed and engineered all types of complex highway interchanges and re-configured unsafe city intersections. We have designed and rehabilitated many types of highway bridges and rail overpasses. All of our roadways are designed to minimize environmental impact.

For decades, Benham has provided Program Management leadership for billions of dollars of state and federal highway construction programs. From conception to contract award, we have managed Capital Improvement Plans for multi-million dollar expansion and upgrade programs for municipal and interstate highway systems in the U.S. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The transportation engineering leadership that Benham demonstrated nearly 100 years ago continues today, guiding our clients through the regulatory and budgetary process that governs the development of modern highway projects. We use our highways, along with millions of Americans, and are proud of our work!
