Genealogy is the tracking of products, sub-assemblies and process additions. Benham integrates genealogy with bar coding and other Benham products for data history gathering in a web-based system.
Genealogy data is used to track the distribution of parts or product ingredients in the event of a Quality Assurance hold or recall.
Typically, bar-code scanners are used in a station to record serial numbers of parts used in the assembly process. The serial numbers are associated with the main assembly in-station. Examples include serial numbers of gear sets or shafts, forged identification for cases and lot numbers of bolts and shims.
